Fact about me: I’m absolutely obsessed with books, writing and every concept surrounding the written word. Upon entering The Library Hotel in Manhattan…my literary-loving heart simply melted into a puddle of happiness. I’ll confess, I had high expectations going into this experience. Between the plush cozy bed (which I definitely jumped on), endless supply of both classic and trendy new literature, oversized chairs for sinking into with my book and the “it” city rooftop garden with extraordinary city view…this was the summit of my hotel experiences in New York.
This famous boutique hotel concept is a vibrant celebration of the Dewey Decimal System with each of the ten floors celebrating one of the famed DDS categories – social sciences, literature, languages, history, math & science (the one floor I didn’t go to), general knowledge, technology, philosophy, the arts and religion. I had the pleasure of staying on the “Languages” floor in room 400.002 – Romance Language – and it was brimming with intoxicatingly captivating books that had me ordering room service and learning all night long.
If you want to escape for some “out of the room” reading time, the hotel features an official Reading Room that hosts hundreds of books and the sweet fuel for making sure you devour as many pages as possible – complimentary coffee and cookies. If you crave a spot with natural light and prime views of Manhattan’s iconic architecture, head to the rooftop Writer’s Den and Poetry Garden…the ultimate Midtown reading (and cocktail-ing) haven
I’m in the early stages of producing a few e-books for Modern Jetsetter and at the beginning of writing my own novel…the latter venture proving to be the most consuming and important project of my career so far. My stay at Library Hotel was heavenly, inspirational and simply the pinnacle of American hospitality (a part of our culture that I’m incredibly proud of). If you are heading to New York City for pleasure or business, I’m willing to bet that one stay at Library Hotel will make it your go-to city home for anyone who has a never-ending affair with written word.
