When it comes to picking a favorite time of year in the city, it’s an impossible decision.
Fall is magical (it has me feeling like I’m stuck in a Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks rom-com film). Winter is a non-stop romance of snow, wintery mornings and cozy times. Spring is an endless orchestra of beauty, inspiration and blooms. But, summer…well, let’s just say it’s an affair and it would be a crime to resist any outdoor moment.
Central Park is always a good idea and is the perfect place to experience a quintessential city summer. Weekly picnics in the park are a new tradition for Daniel & I — it’s nearly effortless to grab the picnic basket, grab a few snacks from Whole Foods and “meet by the sailboats” in the park. Creating the perfect life in New York City is all about creating traditions and select rituals in a sea of twenty million activity options available at any given moment…and relaxed romantic dinners in the park will forever be a part of mine.
Central Park for me is a miracle. In the middle of the bustle and non-stop soundtrack of New York City life, it doesn’t take but few dozen steps into the park before you’re surrounded by bird chirping, bristling leaves and— even more wild — silence. It’s the perfect spot to people watch, get lost in conversation, read books, disconnect from the hustle and simply savor the art of living in the greatest city in the world…
The first six months of 2018 have been the most grounding months of my life. Regular escapes to Central Park, for me, are much more than a casual stroll. It’s a reminder we must routinely step away from the “noise” of life and intentionally reflect in the silence of your own intuition. My best business and creative decisions often happen on walks through this park. This little picnic in Central Park alone was sacred for me…
It was the first one of summer and Daniel and I spent about 10 minutes shooting photos and the rest just laughing and looking up at the sky as I told him my next plans for my novel and the website (there were no clouds to analyze for resemblance to animals, so just more laughter and conversations about our future). The thing about New York City is you can wake up and on any given day and create the best day of your life. Anything is possible here. No dream too big, and every picnic somehow turns into plotting the next milestone.
Cheers to an amazing summer in the city.
