The grandeur of the mountains is a stark reminder of the miniscuity of your worries, and there is comfort in knowing beauty can be so everlasting.”
I admire travelers who jump from one destination to the other while never getting attached with only a backpack in hand — but the truth is: my sentimental heart isn’t quite capable of that (and I’m more of a suitcasing sort of gal – no shame). I thrive on the travel lifestyle but in a life so full of constant hustle, having an annual retreat in a cherished place is important for keeping me grounded. That’s where one of my most beloved destinations come into the picture: the Austrian Alps.
With quitting my 9-5 and starting my own brand, this year was hectic. This long post-Thanksgiving weekend in Soelden, Austria was everything I needed for my creativity and getting ahead on holiday content in between skiing. Austria is one of those rare European destinations that hasn’t been touched by globalization. The tourism hasn’t watered down the charming Alpine mountain culture and the traditions are so magically intact…Soelden (think Stars Hollow European edition) is likely one of the most wholesome winter experiences to be had in the continent. One of my rituals in Austria is waking up extra early to catch a glimpse of the powdery white pine-lined mountains as the sun rises – with either coffee or hot chocolate in hand, of course.
